What Not to Get

Here's a pretty good list of ten things not to get your partner for the holidays. May I add sex toys to that list? While I think a deluxe item might be nice for an occasional gift, it is not an "occasion" gift - it is for both of you, presumably, and should just be given "because." (I'd say Valentine's Day might be appropriate, but that's a big might - only if she/he isn't harboring some secret romance streak. Sex does not equal romance.)

Add your own: What would you hate to get from your partner for the holidays? I'd hate anything that I don't normally wear or use, because it would show that he simply does not pay attention. I would give HUGE bonus points for a kitchen-related luxury gadget I would not get for myself, such as a high-quality mandolin, but even though I'd love a whole set of Creuset cookware, I'm probably in the minority. Gadgets okay, pots not okay. Nice knives, good. And a well-chosen book or CD is always a nice gift, which is why God gave us Amazon wish lists.

Amazon wish lists only work when your husband knows how to look at them without help.

I am all about function. If I can't use it or make use of it, I want no part of it. I would have to say NO to all things collectable, as they only collect dust and serve no other purpose.
